Tommy Fleming for the Millennium Forum

Tommy Fleming plays the Millennium Forum on Friday 28 January 2011.

“Going Back” was recently released and after only one week of sale, the CD entered the album charts at Number 4 along with achieving the Number 1 position in the Indie Charts. The DVD is placed at Number 2.

This achievement is no surprise as Tommy Fleming is recognised as one of the most successful Irish singers of his generation across the globe and this album is heading up to be one of the biggest selling Irish albums this Christmas.

Going Back was broadcast on RTE 1 television and received rave reviews. The program shows the working of a singer with an Orchestra and behind the scenes of how music is recorded. This album realises a life long ambition of Tommy’s to record such classic and nostalgic songs that everyone knows and loves from the past 50 years and performed in a powerful style backed by the Irish Concert Orchestra on the CD and RTE Concert Orchestra on the DVD.

Going Back includes unique, classic tracks like The Boxer by Simon and Garfunkel, My Life by Shirley Bassey, Softly as I leave You by Matt Munroe and, a huge musical classic from Willie Russell’s Blood Brothers, Tell me it’s not true – all of which Tommy delivers in his own exceptionally distinctive velvet-toned voice and results in one of the biggest recordings of his career to date.

The CD and DVD were recorded in Ireland throughout 2010 with a special music style documentary program which features some of the making of the DVD recorded in studio with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. To accompany the album, the DVD has bonus unseen footage.

Going Back is a recording that is completely different to any other that Tommy has ever embarked on. The material for this recording was chosen from musical influences throughout his career and includes some favourites of his own.  The inspiration for the album came from fantastic memories of enjoying these songs with his parents growing up in Sligo and became the formative platform for his internationally renowned career.

Going Back CD & DVD is now on sale and also available for download on iTunes.

To follow the release, Tommy Fleming has just announced his Going Back Irish Tour 2011 with The Irish Concert Orchestra conducted by David Brophy. This promises to be one of the most exciting and memorable concert tours that Tommy has ever brought to his audiences.

Tommy plays the Millennium Forum on 28th January 2011.
